Consisting of two separate buildings connected by a courtyard, Union includes 133 residential units and 9,000 sf of retail fronting both historic Old Town (Pandora Avenue) and Chinatown (Fisgard Street).
This heritage revitalization project was completed in 2014 by developer Anthem Properties of Vancouver. A clear respect for tradition is reflected in Union’s brick, wood and concrete exterior. Inclusion of the Finlayson Building façade and the recreation of Theatre Alley ensure a subtle blend with the neighbourhood, while elevated patios and green courtyards give Union a sense of privacy and community.
The Union is a 35,500 sf mixed-use development site located in Victoria’s Chinatown. Designed in partnership by Robert Ciccozzi Architects and Merrick Architecture, the project comprises two 5-storey residential buildings with an elevated landscaped courtyard and ground floor retail and restaurant space. Union has reintroduced a key block in the Old Town District and at the same time restored an existing heritage facade and historic midblock pedestrian connection called Theatre Alley.
Union was recently awarded a prestigious UDI Award of Excellence as the Best Real Estate Development on Vancouver Island.
