Originally constructed in 1891, the history includes railroad hotel with 48 rooms, and was derelict for many decades in the modern day. The property was purchased in 2012 by Jon Stovell of Reliance Properties who headed the massive renovation, which completed at the end of 2016.
The Janion building is located on the highly-traveled Johnston Street bridge pedestrian/cyclist commuter route. The Janion is a new Victoria landmark that connects the urban waterfront with the energy and activity of old town. Home to 122 micro-loft homes above, and prime commercial space with a south-facing patio at grade, the Janion has become a new centre of activity in old town.
This building is the perfect pied-a-terre for those who commute to Victoria for work. Just footsteps from Harbour Air seaplane terminal. The cleverly designed units have been popular for those willing to compromise on space, in exchange for being in the heart of the city.
The Janion offers amenities such as a gym, meeting room, and an awe-inspiring shared rooftop deck overlooking the inner harbour. A generously-sized bike-friendly storage locker is also included with each unit. This building offers a shared kayak / standup paddle board (SUP) program, where residents can launch directly into the harbour from a private beach.
